Quest Software has a tool that will do compressed file movement for MPE
files and POSiX files called, Quark+. Quark+ compresses multiple file sets,
including directory and user environment information, for storage and/or
transfer as a single file.

NetBaseŽ supports Quark+, an archiving program similar to the file
compression features of PKZip(tm). Quark+ compresses many file types,
including directory and user environment information, and stores them in a
single compressed format. Quark+ assists in timely remote resynchronization
of data on a shadowed system and remote-system environment re-creation from
the source system. It is also widely used to distribute software, thereby
reducing license costs.

Many developers use Quark+ to maintain software version control for
distribution throughout the enterprise or transporting information between
multiple sites. Operations uses this product widely to compress files that
are out-of-sync from shadowing or replication and resyncs them quickly. It
is even used as a backup utility if online backup is not necessary. It can
be controlled in a job stream and create developer backups of production
tests before or after test runs. Quark+ compresses multiple files into a
single file up to 20:1 ratios. It can also be setup in conjunction with
UDC's to replicate accounting structures and password changes to a target
system for high availability when the system has other file structures
shadowed or replicated.

This is a great operational tool that is flexible and adaptable to many
enterprise environments.

Features/Benefits:

ˇ Reduces software costs related to file transfers by reducing the number of
files sent over a network
ˇ Compresses multiple files into a single file keeping the directory intact
ˇ Resyncs files over a network
ˇ Provides fast file movement tool versus sending overnight air
ˇ Distributes and archives software
ˇ Controls start/restart of jobs overnight without operational intervention
ˇ Offers limited backup capability
ˇ Provides account structure and password replication capabilities

Subject: Mover files?

I downloaded a couple of files that appear to be in a Mover format from the
NHA ftp site. How do I need to transfer this to our MPE system? What is
the file code, size, and type that should be associated with this type of
file?

Thanks in advance!
