I hear both of your advice loud and clear; in fact, WITH A MEGAPHONE!!
 There is one thing I failed to mention
in this email and have been reluctant to face! And that's, that I may not
have an HP3000 a year from now.:( (Not my decision!)  That is why costs are
such a factor in my posts!  Managements arguments are why put so much money
into something you plan to phase out within a year.

Long live MPE/ix!!

Mike,
How about when you expand your disc farm, go to DDS-2, drive a
couple of them in paralell and start coming down with a variety
of VSTORE errors,  RESTORE with LISTDIR errors, and one
of 'em croaks 4 months later?  My suggestion, learned in a
hard fashion, is listen to Joe.

Mike,

How about updates when you go and upgrade the OS to 5.5 or 6.0 (when it
ships)?  Without support, you don't get the updates.
