This sounds like the story of how we migrated from a IBM System/3 to an
HP 3000 series III. Way before my time here. We still have a very small
amount of RPG left, we killed most of it during y2k.

I remember working for a company, back in 1980, that migrated from an
IBM
System/3 to an HP3000/Series III in ONE weekend. When the users went
home on
Friday (5:00pm) our only non-PC computer was a System/3. When they came
in
on Monday (09:00am) it had become an HP3000. It only took 5 of us to do
it.
Good huh....

First we dumped the IBM source code (RPG) and JCL to tape and used FCOPY
on
the 3000 to load it in. We then ran a job on the 3000 that converted the
source code (used EDITOR with some HP supplied USE files) and then
compiled
them. A second job, also used EDITOR and some HP supplied USE files,
then
converted the JCL. This was completed by midday Saturday.

We then spent the rest of the weekend testing that everything had
migrated
OK.

Robert W.Mills
