Also try JAM_RECOVERY=FALSE or TRUE
If you can find the printer timeout (on the printer) try upping that too.
I seem to recall there is this thing the spooler does, waits for the printer signal that the spool file is complete, if the printer doesn't respond within its own limit, it tells the HP to try again.
At least that is the way I think it works anyway.

Haven't tried the PJL...the SNMP seems to be working correctly as it knows when it's offline/out of paper/etc.
Will try the PJL to false and see if that works...it's like it's waiting for the old enq/ack handshake...like when you'd forget to do a TERM=10.

It sounds as if you are getting 2 or 3 sheets, it "wants" to play.
Have you tried the usual tricks of flipping PJL and SNMP true/false flags in NPCONFIG?
