Remember that this was during the days of MPE V on the now "classic"
machines.
I presume there was no parm=-1 or enforcelogonudcs and there certainly no
alternate group from which to boot.
And yes, I did know him personally--most of the time a brilliant system
administrator, so things like this could happen to almost anyone [and
thanks to his example, it never happened to me (you can just forget about
the time I took a system dump over all the payroll checks while they were
printing!)].
Thanks to my dad, I know how to butcher animals, but have not done so,
short of plucking some chickens....
With which I prepared a tasty meal....
And sometime I might share my sonnet, "Ode to a plucked chicken", though
I'm not sure that it would improve the lot of those with impoverished
lives....
I'm still not certain about the dying gallantly, but I have made some
mighty pretty tie dyed t-shirts and colored Easter eggs....
Still, I think Picasso had a more simple idea:
"Every man should write a book, plant a tree, and have a son".
It would be much better if the tree hadn't died and book sales were up.
