Samba/iX honors the same MPE security as any other normal application.
If the MPE User which you define/use with Samba/iX has the ability to
save files in other locations, then Samba will be able to also.

You can setup Samba/iX in many ways such that it is easy to think
you are effectively one MPE user when in fact you are another.
After you connect up to the share in question, run the
/usr/local/samba/bin/smbstatus program and look what is under the
UID column for your connection. This will be the (possibly truncated)
MPE USER.ACCOUNT that Samba/iX is using for that connection. Make
sure that either that USER.ACCOUNT has the required permissions to
do what you need, or alter the Samba configuration such that you start
using a more appropriate MPE USER.ACCOUNT. An easy way to do that
is (as Lars previously mentioned) to logon to that same MPE USER.ACCOUNT
as a session (NS/VT, TELNET, DTC, etc), and perform a similar operation
as to that which you are attempting with Samba/iX (copying a file, purge
a file, etc). When you can do the necessary operations as a session, you
should also be able to do it via Samba/iX.
