We had two major issues downloading using DTS from an ODBC.

1. On the ODBC(on the PC) check the time out parameter in the MS$ ODBC configuration. The HP would spend a lot of time extracting before anything was posted to DTS.

2. We downloaded the Dates(as type char) and numerics(as type integer) to SQL in the format that they were in the IMAGE then converted the dates and numbers using SQL. That is divide the number by 100 to assign decimal point and convert the dates.

Good Luck

This is more of a sql question then an HP one but I was
hopeing someone could help me out...

I'm using an SQL DTS to transfer some database tables to an
SQL server. I've transfered most of them but a few of them
are getting errors. This is an example of a typical error:
________________________________________________________
Step 'DTSStep_DTSDataPumpTask_1' failed

Step Error Source: Microsoft Data Transformation Services (DTS)
Data Pump
Step Error
Description:The number of failing rows exceeds the maximum
specified.
(Microsoft Data

error: General
conversion
failure on column pair 1 (source column 'REG_BEG_DT'
(DBTYPE_DBDATE),
destination column 'REG_BEG_DT' (DBTYPE_DBTIMESTAMP)).) Step

Only mine are different fields and datatypes then this error
message. I have 3 with numeric(8,0) as the datatype for me..

I copied that error message from a newsgroup post I
found while researching this error message.
Their only advice was that this stems from bad data,
maybe a letter where sql expects a number or what not.
And their suggestion was to look though the data and
clean outany bad data..

My problem is these tables have between 1 and 10 million
records..
It would be impossible for me to go though them by hand..

Does anyone have any way I can get these tables to transfer,
is there a "drop record on error and continue option" that
I'm missing?

Any help would be much appreciated,
Thanks,
