If the file is "pretty far into the set" then it will take awhile. 
Remember that a restore from disk doesn't have the luxury of "skipping
EOF marks" like the old tapes did.

If you used COMPRESS= to create the file it may make it even longer (I
don't know the internal representation, my last detailed exposure was
"classic" store/restore tape).
