I'll second the praise of NBSpool. It's an excellent package which has served
our needs very well. I don't know much about commercial job scheduling
products as we use an inhouse product which we are happy to share. It's a
stream language (allowing modifications in the stream file at execution time)
called SLS and scheduler. Also, MasterOp/3000 by Carl Kemp does some very nice
things in the scheduling realm. The price is right (it's available from the
Interex CSL) and Carl is good to work with. We looked at implementing it for a
while and while we eventually decided that it didn't provide precisely what we
needed, I was very impressed with what I saw.
