For those of you that might be interested, I've taken the two best composite
images from the Pathfinder lander and substantially cleaned them up over the
raw feed that NASA/JPL was putting out and placed them onto our web page. The
first image that came back from Mars (an engineering image to assess the
state of the spacecraft/lander/rover) is now the lead photograph on our home
page:
http://aics-research.com
while the first full color composite is at:
http://aics-research.com/sojourn.html
I've sharpened the images to greatest extent I believe reasonable and
adjusted the gamma and contrast to values that are aethestically pleasing
(and to what I believe would be accurate representations if the spacecraft
had landed in our backyard -- and these images from Mars do look very much
like the countryside that surrounds us :-).
