I would look for some type of logging that can be enabled that would show
the protocol of the connection, or attempt at connection.  Not getting any
message is strange however, so maybe the application is stuck somewhere.
When was the last time you rebooted your PC?

Yes, it ran fine just a day or 2 ago. Strange. Don't know about logging
setup?
accessing the application file directly (not through a shortcut) has no
effect.
