<<We are in the process of replacing our 950 (I know, it's about time)
with a 939KS and I have a, hopefully, minor problem. Our LP device is a
2564B connected via HPIB and we would like to be able to hang it off of a
DTC on the 939. However, since HPIB is not supported on the 9x9s, and it
doesn't seem as if HP has any conversions to serial available,I may be
stuck. My question to all of you is, does anyone out there have an HPIB
to Serial conversion we can purchase or a 2564 with a serial interface
that you would be willing to trade for one with HPIB, either on an even
trade or for a small difference? Please respond asap as we will be doing
this cpu swap in the next few weeks.>>

[Most of you knew this was coming]

The other alternative is to just put an HPIB card in the 9x9KS box. It
isn't "supported", but the full-height CIO Adapter/HPIB Controller card
from a 9x8 box works perfectly in our 959KS/200, and we don't have to
worry about losing the system printer if there's a network problem.

Yet another choice: after converting the line printer to serial, run it
off of one of the half-height SCSI/Centronics parallel cards with a
parallel/serial converter box. Yes, it's an extra $80 piece of hardware,
but it frees you from being dependent on the network to have a working
system printer.
