That isn't quite what Jeff said. Obviously, any of the pre-6.5 drivers could
be updated to 6.5, since most of them were. His point was that the changes
required are so significant that just giving an "outsider" the source to the
*existing* software and expecting them to be able to update it to be
compatible with 6.5 is unrealistic. HP certainly has the knowledge,
experience, and talent to complete such an update; they just don't see the
justification for it.
