I can't speak as to what George Stachnik knows or not, nor what he would say
is a "groundswell of support". I do know there are a lot of people
"interested" in OpenMPE from all facets of the "ecosystem": vendors, users,
and HP itself (to see how many and whom, check out
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/OpenMPE)
As to what we can do, my answer is: I don't know. Beyond what we are doing
in the OpenMPE forum, we really have no clout (that I know of - I've heard
rumors of law suits, but I don't like law suits - the only ones who seem to
win consistently are the lawyers from either, or both, sides). We are poor,
humble beggars; hoping for some crumbs from the HP table. Only time will
tell if HP has a sense of "noblesse oblige" and will, as Spike Lee would put
it, "Do the right thing".
