This might be one for the FAQ since I am asked this often, so let me
share the answer with the list.

Not sure what you're looking for. Best bet is to go to
http://raven.utc.edu/archives/hp3000-l.html and check the newest archive
file to see if you can find your posting. The archives are updated in
real-time as listserv distributes the posting (and I do mean real-time).
If you get the archive index page, raven is alive. If you can access
the top-most archive file, Listserv is alive (the archive web interface
uses a CGI script that talks to listserv through an IPC pipe). If your
posting is in there, then yes, it was received, processed, and sent to
raven's mailer (LSMTP). There is no way to remotely check raven's
outgoing mail queue however, so the possibility remains that there is a
mail connectivity problem between raven and you (recall that the mail
path may very well not be direct, nor follow the same path as your web
access).

If by "show up" you mean on comp.sys.hp.mpe, they're always out of sync
due to inherent delays in netnews propagation.

And for the sake of completeness, if by "show up" you mean get a copy of
your own posting, Listserv doesn't send a copy back to the originator by
default. If you want one, send a message to [log in to unmask] with
the text "set hp3000-L repro" if you want a full copy, or else "set
hp3000-l ack" if you just want an acknowledgement that your post was
received.
