This is an "age-old" problem of where the release numbers come from,
and while that question can be answered, some are updateable by the
user, some by patching tools, and some only by a real FOS update. As
best as I recall (and I *AM* foggy on this and not to be taken entirely
literally):
* the first number is hard-coded into the FOS and doesn't change
unless you update the MPE release,
* the second number is not-so-hard-coded into the kernel NL procedure
associated with the current patch level of that module,
* the third number is "user-changeable" via SYSGEN.
The old AUTOPAT used to never update the 3rd number, but I suspect that
Patch/iX may be updating them these days as I have started seeing it
change with the later 5.5 powerpatches.
However -- none of this is a guarantee! Even suggestions of HPSWINFO
have quirks where HPSWINFO may not match up with reality on your system.
As the old proverb goes, something like "Man with more than one clock
never knows what time it really is" :-)
