Thank you all for your response.  We were still having problems after having
HP change the ROMS and changing the configuration.  We found one terminal which
did not seem to have any problems and discovered that almost all problems were
solved by changing the speed from 9600 to 19.2k.  It's significant to note that
these terminals are connecting through our phone switch.  The HP-to-switch is
apparently running at 19.2k and apparently unable to buffer enough data to
compensate for the switch-to-terminal connection at 9600.  At least that's the
best explanation I can come up with.
 
There are a few terminals still with problems, and others which have slave
printers to which applications print which seem to act differently, perhaps
because escape sequences are more stringent.  We're continuing our warranty
support for the migration as we research these issues.  Once again, thanks for
your assistance.
