Try a :

RESTORE *T;@[log in to unmask]@;LISTDIR this'll show the details of the tape and will
show how many tapes should be in the media library.

If it's media 1 or 2 then you can select the files off that tape to
restore.

If there's a problem with the media then ONERR=SKIP once the restore is
underway will restore all the files without errors and skip the rest.
Question is the restore with the "failed to recover portions of
compressed data" message on multiple tapes ? If so what tape drives /
tapes are these and are the drives on the same SCSI channel ? I've seen
the same message related to FW tape drive revisions.

Regards,

Nige...

Subject: [HP3000-L] Help - Tape Restore Problem

Hi All,

We are having problems with two of our backup tapes and trying to
restore files from them.

The first one gives a "Dismount media 1 for restore on ldev8, mount
media 9 for restore on ldev8" message. The backup only goes to one tape
but for some reason it must think that there is a media 9 or 9th tape.
Is there anyway to get around this and just read the files from the
tape?

The second one gives a "failed to recover portions of compressed data"
message on various files. Again, is there anyway to get around this and
just read the files from the tape?

Thanks for any help.
