Thinlan cable limitation?

Does anyone had an experiance to attach 2 DTCs with a thinlan cable that will
have a lenght grater than 500 feet.  HP states that the longest distance
between DTC and the CPU can't be more then 500 feet.  I have a customer who
needs to install a couple laserjet printers and 3 terminals.
