The original Samba 0.7c freeware version did work on MPE/iX 5.5
as well (hey, it was developed even on 5.0). I guess it is still
available at the www.sambaix.com web site. Or at the original
home page of Samba/iX at ftp://ftp.3k.com/POSIX/samba.htm  ;-)

You might even try the latest and greatest Samba 2.0.10 for MPE/iX
on MPE/iX 5.5 (see www.sambaix.com) -- however, I have never used
it there myself (5.5 was long obsolete when I built my first 2.0.x
version) -- I don't see an immediate reason why it should not work,
(except for a patch level far below 5.5 PowerPatch 7 maybe)...

Your mileage may/will vary.
