I would concur with Wirt's comments on Telnet performance there are
ScreenJet customers with several hundred users of Telnet with no
performance degradation at all.

A couple of questions that may help isolate the problems.

When you say "the performance goes to heck" is that the performance of
everything on the M/C or just the performance of Telnet session users?

I assume that these are LAN connected sessions not DTC card sessions
which were slow. If they are LAN connections but they are replacing
Direct Connect Terminal sessions it is possible that they are exposing a
weakness in your LAN topology. We have found at a couple of sites where
the LAN access to the 3000 had been limited in the past, increasing it
exposes that the 3000 is off the main highway so to speak and down a
very narrow band width limited track.

What version of MPE/iX are they running?, 6.0 and above gives good
performance

What kind of memory configuration do they have on the 957 for 150 users?
