MPE Supporters,

The OpenMPE, Inc. Board of Directors would like to update you on our efforts
to
facilitate the ongoing and future use of the MPE operating system. OpenMPE
is committed to that end, and while we have no formal commitment from HP
regarding
the future of MPE as of this writing, we continue to be hopeful that
positive
developments in line with our goals will be achieved.

We have filed for 501(c)6 status with the IRS, which if granted will
establish
OpenMPE as a non-profit business association. In order to give the MPE user
community a way to go on the record as supporting our goals and to keep
future
options open, we are now accepting monetary donations from all companies and
individuals interested in seeing MPE live and prosper beyond the 2003 "end
of
HP sales" and 2006 "end of HP support". The breadth and depth of that user
support will be a major indicator to Hewlett-Packard on how many sites still

want their MPE. Note that donations to 501(c)6 organizations like OpenMPE
are
NOT tax deductible. However, along with sincere thanks we are offering
levels
of exposure on our web site and reciprocal web links at higher donation
levels;
furthermore, icons will be available at each level that donors can display
on
their own web pages to show their commitment to the future of MPE.

Here are the donor levels (given in US dollars):

Bronze -- Donors giving $200 and up will be listed on the Bronze-level
               Donor's page.

Silver -- Donors giving $500 and up will be listed on the Silver-level
Donor's Page and may provide a small logo to be placed with
               the listing.

Gold -- Donors giving $1000 or more will be included on the
Gold-level
Donor's Page and may provide both a small Logo and a URL to
               which the listing will link.

Platinum -- Donors giving $5000 or more will be included on the
Platinum-
level Donor's page and may provide a large logo, a URL to
which
the listing should link and a brief company profile.

In the near future we also expect to offer memberships in the OpenMPE
Association.
If our submission to the IRS goes as expected, member dues *will* be tax
deductible; however, that will not be assured unless and until the IRS
formally
accepts our application for 501(c)6 status. It is important to remember
that
donations are NOT related to memberships; they are completely separate
transactions. Also keep in mind that donations to and memberships in
OpenMPE are
not meant to replace membership in Interex. In fact we plan to offer a
discount
on our memberships for users who are already Interex members.

Thank you in advance for your support. If you have questions please contact
any
of the board members. For more information please continue to visit
www.openmpe.org.

Sincerely,

The OpenMPE, Inc. Board of Directors
