As to doing it with strictly HP DTCs, I seem to recall having to put PCs with OpenView at the remote sites to handle the IP to MAC/802.3 interfacing.

Per everyone's response, there (to my knowledge) was never an elegant plug and play solution.   Even the 16MX IP addressable solution still required bridging if I recall correctly.

I've had great luck with Lantronix's gear as well.
