I have a problem with a JetDirect Box and I was wondering, hoping
actually, that someone on the list might be able to help me.
The situation is this. We are in the process of placing one of our
branches on the internet. Since HQ already has a high speed
permanent Internet link the idea is to use tunnelling PPP (eventually)
and the internet to replace our existing x.25 WAN.
To prove the concept we acquired a Jetdirect box and configured it
using the JetAdmin software that came with it using a local W95
system. It was assigned an IP address from our then current C class
for that location. Everything appeared to work fine.
Some time back in August this little box was detached from the
network and placed into administrative storage pending the
installation of the necessary circuitry at the prototypical branch.
I am now in the process of trying to configure this box at that
branch using the C class address block provided by our NSP.
The LAN is a small one consisting of a Cisco 1600 router, two WinNT
4.0 SP 3 work stations and a single LaserJet II which will be hung
off the JetDirect box. I am attempting to use the JetAdmin Software
which was shipped on the August 97 MSDN cd-rom for WinNT.
The software can see the box but I cannot open it to set the new IP
configuration. Can anyone tell me how to get this to work? I
presume that it has something to do with the fact that it was
previously setup on another ip/tcp lan but surely there is a way to
return the box to factory defaults.
Any assistance would be greatfully accepted.
Regards,
Jim
