Fellow list members.

I looked at some of the questions from the SIB, and one question in
particular seems odd.

> Description: By the second half of 2004, announce the decision for

> parties.

Now the way I see it, this question should not be included with the
others. Since we only have 30 votes in this area,
we would be wasting our precious voting rights.

Let me explain why.
This question is being addressed by OPENMPE and they are the best
resource to get the job done. If they can not accomplish this task,
then it really does not matter how we respond to the question. Only HP
will decide if and when MPE goes open. The other questions are based
upon the assumption that there is life after MPE's death. I, for one,
would love to see MPE enter the next decade but it will be up to OPENMPE
to push HP on our behalf and with the surveys and membership to OPENMPE
to prove it. So, therefore the votes should go to the remaining
questions. It is with these questions that will make our voice heard.

On a separate note.
What if the users of MPE put an article in the Financial Post and other
newspapers, explaining our need to have MPE begin its new life as an
OpenOS. And that the current and and latest-to-be release is free of CPU
throttling code, all internal MPE/iX and HP3000 system documentation to
be available on the Internet, License ss_config to HP approved third
party support vendors, enable MPE/iX version 7.5 to boot on 9x7 systems,
and allow SCSI disk drive firmware level updating immediately. We might
be able to get the public opinion on our side.

We should try to get the same article published by all the newspapers
around the world. A little publicity can go a long way to making it happen.

JUST MY OPINION.
