Wishful thinking? dreaming?

Speaking of which..... Post Tuesday, and seeking opportunities to
distinguish *ourselves* from the commodity world (isn't that the effective
meaning of proprietary????):

How about turning all of these energies into building a product that 1)
maximizes customers' investment, especially in their own applications and
their manpower and 2) provides the best of both worlds in terms of future
applications/facilities?

AKA: port MPE to LINUX themselves! Include the full port of Image by
expanding/enhancing Eloquence to provide the power and efficiency and
supportability of IMAGE coupled with the inquiry capabilities (and
political correctness) of SQL-compliance (after all, Allbase is going away,
right? Do we need to wrap a transformed Image database in an Oracle
topcoat? Assist in the porting of the vast array of functional, resilient,
and effective tools currently available on the 3k to the LINUX world -
schedulers, spool-file management, data handlers, in addition to the Image
utilities. Continue to support the need to tune to a mix of batch and
interactive processing. Minimal or NO migration!!!! Win new customers to
the reality of a functional have-it-your-way world!

I use chocolate in both souffles and molles... just don't use garlic in
both!

ok, dreaming... but darn, I'd like to see the HP name continue to mean
something! Maybe us old-timers shouldn't remember how good it WAS...
