to answer the first question -- (start plug mode) i bought a serial
inferface card from a company called Excellink, Inc. they call it a
'statback' card and it plugged into the open mio slot on the printer.
i've been real happy with it. (not like i work for them or anything)
their phone number is (408) 295-9000. (end plug mode) i did have
extra memory put on it (1mb)...which leads me to question #2 -- we're
getting really good response from this printer. whether or not it's a
full 24 ppm, i can't say exactly. i can say its a *whole* lot faster
than my 256x printers (serial (is) or hp-ib(was)). whether or not the
extra memory is making a difference, again i can't exactly say. maybe
seems nice and wishy-washy :-) hope this helps - d
