In MPEX it's implemented as a function, which seems to work fairly well.
IMO, the new MPE function should provide some method of timeout, and allow
for a default answer to be set if it does timeout.
The timeout mechanism should combine a configurable number of repeats and a
configurable amount of time between repeats.
The prompt, number of repeats, interval between repeats, and default
response should all be set by parameters to the function.
As for the cursor control/memory lock ability, current console replies
don't do this, so I'm not sure of the value of adding this to the new
function.
