If you mean "configure on the OLD system the correct I/O paths for the
drives when they're attached to the NEW system", then ... yes, things should
work just fine.  I've done that several times.

If you mean "configure on the NEW system (while the OLD system is still
up and running)..." then that implies you've got a separate LDEV 1 (and
separatE $SYS vol set) on the new system, so simply attaching disks from
$SYS on OLD system won't work.
