I've been involved in a migration recently and the customer is now live
running on Windows 2003 using ACU COBOL and SQL Server. We've got a JCL
interpreter to cope with the JCL which is generated on the fly by this
customers application. Stream jobs are submitted to a server process
which emulates some of the MPE OS features which were hard to emulate in
other ways.

They were using dsline quite a bit which gave us some grief along with
the IPC intrinsics. Message files are catered for but not circular
files (they weren't used by this customer).

I don't know what printing issues there were -no doubt there were some
but it's not something I got involved with. To be honest, I don't think
we've touched the security features of MPE so that would be an issue.

I've been involved with various migration products over the years and
MPE certainly seems to be one of the most challenging. Every time we
get a new customer, they want some other feature of MPE that we've not
come across! Keeps me off the streets.
