I have setup in SYSGEN a new printer device (LDEV=201), with a device
name of LJ80 (DEVNAME=LJ80). This is a network printer connected via a
jet direct card. I can send output to dev=201 without any problems, but
when I try to send to dev=LJ80, I get a message "Unknown device class.
(CIERR344)".

I know that it must be easy to set up the devices to have
interchangeable logical and physical device names. So simple that I
can't find it on the documentation CD. What have I missed.
