Yes , but I seem to remember that these disks had to be formatted
differently (DMF format) to accept the larger sized files. There is a
shareware utility that does (did) this, I think available from
www.winimage.com?

Microsoft uses a "Cabinet File" which can vary in size, but it is usually in
the 1.8MB area. These files have an extension of .CAB and are used for
everything now.
This supercedes the old compressed fileset - those files with the last
letter of their extension of "_" (ie: somefile.ex_ which expands to
somefile.exe)
