OK, I have had my fill of courts these days - and to those of you who have
asked (but not heard) why I've been so darned quiet the past several days...

Our wonderful county in BSEPA (Bucks County) called me in for Jury Duty
early this past week. As Murphy (as in Murphy's Law) was in the Jury Lounge
with me, I was one of the first called to qualify for a trial. Since Murphy
was clearly whipering in counsel's ear - I got picked... made for
completely rewriting plans for HPWorld as well as hell on earth in keeping
our client's supported.

As such - it looks like (and I sincerely hope I don't have to rewrite these
plans again - but only the Jury will determine that, I guess) I will be
flying into San Diego on Tuesday morning (Lee Ruggerio will be leading the
SIG Meeting as I will not be there at 9:30 AM) and an agenda is being
forwarded to him via a SIGWeb EC member.

In the event that these plans stick - the ODBC Gotchas session in HP's
Interactive Classroom, Wednesday 8/5/1998 is still on. If these plans
break, I hope to find a volunteer to deliver it, or cancel it altogether.

Thanks to quite a few people who have been quite supportive during this
time. I still say people need to do their civic duty (and everyone should
try it, it's quite interesting), but courts also need to realize that when
something of this magnitude has been planned, and money had already been
spent, that a waiver of a few weeks (like I requested) is not all that
unreasonable.

Best Regards,
Joe
