We just completed our upgrade from an HP 3000 957 to an HP 3000 969-200. The new system is awesome. We did have a few problems.
1) We ordered the new system with a CD-ROM. The new system came with a box that was labeled CD-ROM. In the box was the manual for a CD-ROM, a CD-ROM carrier to hold the CD-ROM, and a DTC. I can not help but wonder if there is some poor soul lost in this vast world who ordered a DTC, got the box for a DTC, the manuals for a DTC, the connectivity kit for the DTC and my CD-ROM ...<sigh>
2) Since the K-class computers no longer support the HPIB interface, HP correctly determined that I should convert the HP 7980 HPIB tape drive to a HP 7980 SX SCSI tape drive. HP sent the upgrade kit with the new system, the local HP hardware guy installed it, ran the onboard diagnostics - which passed, but the unit would not read any of my tapes. It would read one or two files and then go IDLE. Not good! Yesterday, HP found the problem. The factory sent the HP SCSI for the IBM AS 400 which will not work with my HP 969-200 <sigh>

Other than that, everything went fine....

Thank you for letting me ramble, hopefully you can avoid the problems that I had.
<sigh>
