While you are here, looking at FTP, lately I am seeing msgs on console from JINETD about
Getpwnam USER.TFTP no such user
Or similar. Any idea what that's about please??

The 52, is for the PIN number not the tape drive.
Job #J1 is probably JINETD.NET.SYS
If you look at the configuration file
INETDCNF.NET.SYS there is a line for "bootps"
Comment out that line and the problem should go away.
