With Glancexl and SOS, you can trace these pins to see which files they are
doing I/O to.

I wouldn't be surprised to see each process doing lots of io to a file in
PUB.SYs, each 1 word in length.

The names of these files have some part of the DTC- lan hardware address
included in it.

If my memory serves me correctly, this problem can be solved by enabling
heartbeat on the associated tranceivers attached to the DTC's.

One way to check if this is the problem:

Boot your system and don't let anybody on.

You should notice very heavy io activity by persuing the led's on the disk
drive.  Unplug the RJ45 connectors from the DTC's. If the I/O disappears,
this is indeed your problem.

Or, it could be something completely different.
