Everytime we announce a new version of QCTerm -- and say that this version
seems quite hard -- we get flooded with little things that still aren't quite
right. So, I'm going to stop saying that :-).

However, the new version that is available at:

         http://aics-research.com/qcterm

would seem to correct all known problems (save one, see below). This version
should correct the problems reported in HPEDIT, SAVEKEYS, and the home-grown
programs that were outlined to us.

In addition, this newest version also incorporates several user-requested
enhancements. ALT+B has been added as another method of generating a BREAK
key. And we've finally deduced a reliable method to have ALT+F4 kill not only
a child form (the terminal emulator in QCTerm) but also the entire program,
including the main screen, thus you can now kill QCTerm from the emulator
screen by pressing the ALT+F4 sequence.

The only known problem that remains is in MPEX's

     SETJCW VEREDOVEMODIFY=1

I've spoken to Eugene about this. He's out of town this week, but when he
returns next week, he said that he would be delighted to see about getting
this to work as soon as possible. We should have this corrected quite soon.

This newest version also has links to QCTerm's web-based Manual and FAQ in
the HELP menu. When you select either of these two links in the pull-down
menu, QCTerm should launch a web browser, bring it to the fore, and display
the requested page. This feature doesn't universally work with all versions
of all browsers. Older versions of Netscape are not as well-behaved as the
newer versions. Indeed, some versions will not even come up, depending on
local PC configuration settings. Others will receive the web page properly,
but don't come to the fore.

We haven't had any problems with Internet Explorer from Microsoft (as you
might expect, since they're the ones who make the rules) or newer versions of
Netscape. Because this feature works better than 95% of the time now (and
will only get better with time), we decided that it was too good an idea to
pass up.

To load this newest version of QCTerm, kill all instances of QCTerm that you
might have running, download the newest version from the web, and unzip it.
That's all that you need to do if you have been running a previous version.

If this is your first version of QCTerm, please read the installation
instructions carefully :-).

A FAQ (frequently asked questions) has also been added to the web. Its URL is:
