It is really a pleasure for us to present you a brand new product from PMS
Labs - an archiving software under MPE/iX operating system.
Our program handles backups on tape devices. This is the first solution of
its kind. XTP/iX enables very easy management of files scheduled to be
copied.
It is especially useful whenever backup process is not controlled by a
system administrator (i.e. backup process is done very late evening or over
a night and there are no means to check the proper job termination).
Additionally users who do not have "Turbo Store On-line Backup" for their
disposal have the assurance of data correctness in files backed up on the
tape because XTP/iX checks accessibility of all files scheduled to be backed
up if a file is locked by a user XTP/iX unlocks it and starts a copy.
Additional advantage of XTP/iX is automatic data verification. When a backup
has completed our program switch the tape device to on-line mode and starts
verification.
Easy to handle and user friendly interface make working with XTP/iX very
easy.
Program features:
? automatic data verification - after a scheduled backup a tape device is
automatically switched to on-line mode and verifying process is started
immediately
? two types of backup are available: differential and selective
? system or program autoreply
? full archive management with only one program menu
? every single file name can be assigned for backup
? wide range of file types can be backed up
? possibility to skip a file from backing up
? check of file accessibility - if the file is locked XTP/iX tries to unlock
it (i.e. abort a session or a job which locks it)
? XTP/iX can stop every active job before starting backup and after its
completion stopped jobs can be automatically started
? automatic password recognition (user, group, account) for all jobs which
can be issued within XTP/iX
? a backup process can be stopped when there is no room to copy data on a
tape. All previous system values and limits will be of course restored.
? setting system limits to 0,0 during backup and restoring values after a
backup has completed
? full logging of all XTP/iX activities
? the possibility to change backup time and file names to be backed up
? a console reminder about tape insertion before starting a copy
? also all sessions which are active in accounts scheduled for backup can be
aborted by XTP/iX
? program displays on a system console account names with files which could
not be backed up
? daily log file including information which files were copied and which
were skipped
? daily report after verification of stored data
? full history with log files
