Check the $STDLIST of your JINETD,MANAGER.SYS job, it should look
something like this:

> telnet(tcp nowait MANAGER.SYS port: 23)
> telnet/tcp: Added service, server internal <-- If you don't see these

You should also see an entry for ftp if you're using the socksified
version (I think). Otherwise check the FTPMON job (for inbound FTP).

Also, you might check the general health of your network by running
NETTOOL.NET.SYS and going into RESOURCE and DISPLAY. If you see smileys :)
in the right hand column, that's good. If you see :( that's bad.

Subject: [HP3000-L] could use some help setting up network

I thought I had everything set up correctly, but when I try to FTP out
from my 957 I get a "DESTINATION UNREACHABLE (SOCKERR 116)", and telnet
just goes out to lunch. If I try to ftp or telnet in, then the
processes just hang.

any suggestions?

thanks,
