If you are unable to afford / acquire a 9x7 or 9x8, the 922 !!IS!! a viable
solution.  I purchased a used 922 with 1.3GB disk, 1.3GB DAT, Console,
current FOS 5.0, 32 User Lisc, TI/ISQL, ThinLAN/IX, and ARPA services for less
than the cost of a PC. I hooked my 3 old HPIB 7937's to it for development disk
space and all is working well.  I actually upload source to my PC so that I may use
my favorite PC Based editor <<PLUG ON>>  SPEEDIT <<PLUG OFF>>, then download
the source to the 922 for compiles.  At network speeds, these up/down loads
only take a few seconds, and my 922 is not burdened by my editing overhead
during development.  Since I am doing development on a pc w/Reflections
I don't need a DTC for serial connections however, I believe that a DTC48
with 6 modem ports is available for < $900 US these days.
 
Some of the more reputable and well-known used equipment resellers are moving out of
that business and into the Systems Integration business, so their inventory
of systems is available and well priced.  If you need some contact names, email me
