Uhhhh.... I thought that the main purpose of user groups was 'advocacy'.
Software vendors have a great deal of control over the direction their
products take.  It's my recollecion that user groups emerged as a means for a
large number of individual users to lobby collectively for certain actions
from the vendor.  Isn't that why user groups are typically vendor-specific???
