As you've probably heard by now, the hijacking of the Afghan airliner that
was hijacked from Afghanistan to Stansted airport near London is now over.
Everyone is safe and free.

About 20 years ago, I was on an airplane with Steve Cooper and Stan Sieler.
We too all sat at Stansted for a what seemed an eternity (actually, only a
few hours) waiting for the fog to clear at Gatwick, our original destination.
That particular sentence has nothing to do with anything, except a vain
attempt at trying to make this posting somewhat relevant to this list.

What truly prompted this posting was the fact that at least 60 of the people
on board have already applied for political asylum in England. But the
comment that really tickled me was the one that one of the people who missed
the flight said to a reporter back in Afghanistan: "Just think, I could have
been in England now."

I've never heard anyone regret missing a hijacking before.
