So, we now have two sound and workable strategies for configuring IMAGE to
store BLOBs, either internally in the database or via pointers to external
files or URLs. My question is, what would it take to standardize either or
both of these approaches and make IMAGE/SQL capable of accessing such
pseudo-BLOBs using standard SQL constructs? Seems like there are lots of
products out there that could more easily add IMAGE/SQL to their list of
supported DBMSs if this type of BLOB access were possible.
