You need to understand rollforward and rollbackward procedures
during backup.
Roadrunner requires you to have all users off the system to initiate
the backup synchronization process. Downtime in the beginning.
Orbit requires the synchronization process to be initiated anytime after
the backup has completed. Downtime in the end. Orbit also offers a
zero downtime option. I have personally never used this option.
For shops with Netbase Shadowing, the Orbit facility is a much more
sound investment. Should you blow sync for a database in the
afternoon, a backup could be initiated immediately. With Roadrunner,
do you want to kick all users off at 1:00 PM to begin a backup?
Anyway, just my $.02 worth.
