It sounds awful close to the definition of 'price fixing' to me. Isn't that
one of the things the DOJ went after MS for?

The comment from the 3000 Marketing Manager, about if they let everyone
compete on price then they would not support the customer, is VERY
interesting. This attitude may force me to reevaluate some of HP's policies
I had not looked at too closely before.

This is a very interesting article, definitely worth reading.

I would like refer everyone to the front page article "Sales pass through
compliance scrutiny" in the April 2000 issue of "The 3000 News Wire" for
another take on HP and their distribution/pricing/VAR policies.  I'll make
no further editorial comment other than what I have to say in that article.
