Hi List -
My son (age 15) plays Spore, and it's prompted some interesting
dialogue about 'evolving'. To him, it's just a game - fun for a few
days, but not to the level of World of Warcraft. There are many
games - online or otherwise, that parents find objectionable. To me,
the major objection is the inordinate amount of time the kids waste
playing them - this is a matter of parental control.
I do not consider myself a 'religious zealot', but I do think
(unfortunately) Spore is helping to reinforce the public-school
Science teaching that evolution is the ONLY possible explanation for
"how we got here". And I do not agree. I am a Creationist, I
believe the Bible is God's inerrant word, and I take the 6-day
account literally. (We have, I believe, discussed this at great
length on this List.)
My "6 cents"...
