Well, as long as we're ranting, let me add another one.
I have in total of twenty two C2490AM disc drives, installed over
the past several years, the most recent in August 1999. And a system
volume of three A3087A drives which use the identical drivers, just
installed a month ago.
Having complained twice that all 22 of the C2490AMs were left off
the maintenance contract renewal proposal, we were informed that
this particular model is no longer supported. Huh? The last contract
says nothing about an 'end of support date' for these devices, nor have
we received any notification from any other source.
So what does one do? Stock up on spares? Toss the whole lot out the
window and replace them with HA racks and newer drives. Or toss
the whole machine out the window after porting the data to a DEC
Alpha?
Hey Stan .... interested in writing an MPE/iX clone for the DEC?
Sadly,
