i don't think i'll do that :-)

as a last-ditch sort of thing, i checked cognos' knowledge base....and
sure enough they had it documented!  (i'm amazed...pleased...but still
amazed)

they didn't explain why (although they did do a <tsk tsk> :-), but they
said the work-around was to run it ';unsat=terminate'.  it appears to
work (in that the program loads now)....but as i advised the person
that stumbled onto the problem....if it were my application -- my data
-- i wouldn't try to do this in a production environment <gulp>.
