A customer of mine has a box of new Maxell DC-600A cartridge tapes that they
found in the back of their warehouse and would like to use the tapes in their
HP3000 Classic HP9145 cartridge tape drive for bakups. According to HP
documentation, the cartridge tape needs to be initially formatted at the
factory and cannot be initially formatted on the system. Is there a utility
that I have not been able to find in the documentation to format DC-600
cartridge tapes that were not initially formatted at the factory for use in
HP3000 classic systems? Did I miss something or is this true?

Any help would be appreciated!
