We have both a 996-500 and a 979KS-100 in our shop and have never
experienced a CPU failure.

Subject: Processor troubles on T and K class?

(Mark Landin wrote:)

Some HP3000 users of the 9x9 (K-class equivalents) and 99x (T-class
equivalents) are experiencing some (to them) unusally high incidences
of CPU failure, particularly in the PA7200 and PA8000 types. Have any
users of the later K and T systems experienced any such things? CPU
failure is, in my experience, rare in the extreme. However, one
customer I know had to replace 4 CPU's in 2 3-way systems. That's a
67% failure rate!
